recent discovery

i've recently discovered agatha christie and i love reading her stuff. so far, i've only read murder on the orient express and am around halfway through death on the nile. when i read fiction, i usually pic sci fi but have been known to read some mystery. the funny thing is, i've read newer stuff like dan brown but don't like it nearly as much as older mysteries like sherlock holmes and now agatha christie. there's just something about these classic sleuth stories when solving the crime depends on deduction and clues without all the action. it seems to me that in dan brown and other modern mysteries that i've read, the author basically discloses the crime and criminal occupying the reader thereafter with action of the criminal being chased or chasing the next victim. in these classic stories, however, the entire point is figuring out the who/what/when/where/why/how and in christie's novels so far, every single character can be a suspect...i love it. if you've never read agatha christie, definitely try her out.

until the next post...
